Position Overview:
The Director of Development will report to the Executive Director and will have ownership of the fundraising goals for the organization. This role will provide leadership and guidance to the development team. This role involves donor cultivation, grant management, and special events management to support the financial sustainability of the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a strategic fundraising plan that aligns with the organization’s goals, incorporating compelling messaging to engage and inspire donors.
- Lead and manage capital campaigns and any special fundraising initiatives, ensuring successful execution and achievement of campaign goals
- Donor Cultivation and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors
- Oversee the research, writing, and reporting of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and timelines.
- Plan and execute fundraising events that engage the community and enhance fundraising efforts, including logistics, sponsorship, and post-event evaluation.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate partners to secure funding and support for the organization’s initiatives.
- Develope and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals and sustainability.
- Supervise and mentor the fundraising team
- Analyze fundraising data to evaluate effectiveness, identify trends, and inform future strategies; prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Work closely with other organizational functions to ensure alignment of fundraising strategies with organizational programs and initiatives; communicate regularly with stakeholders on fundraising progress and goals.
- Work with the Executive Director of Development to identify, research, and create strategies for cultivating and moving donors along the pipeline and meeting fundraising targets.
- Manage the Annual Fundraising strategy including annual appeals, special appeals, and e-appeals.
- Manage all aspects of the Annual Fundraising process, including writing, segmenting, producing, mailing, and tracking appeals.
- Oversee reporting, list generation, and donor communications for accuracy and strategic impact.
- Ensure that data management systems are optimized and regularly updated for accurate reporting
- Work with Executive Director to establish development priorities, annual calendar, and fundraising goals.
- Implement and monitor strategies to achieve goals and respond to departmental and institutional needs.
- Continuously assess, analyze, and evaluate fundraising programs to identify issues and need for change and provide recommendations for modifications and adjustments.
- Manage all donor communications and reporting
- Manage communications in collaboration with the Communications department to develop and produce online, print, and social media communications, news items, newsletters, and magazine such as monthly e-news and posts for web or social media.
- Manage administrative systems and functions for the Development Department
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Non-profit Management, Business or related area
- Over 5 years of experience with non-profit fundraising, grant and proposal writing and reporting
- Experience with financial management of development initiative
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets
- Excellent understanding of foundation and major donor fundraising, including experience working directly with donors and foundation programs
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including those related to fundraising, grant writing, and reporting
- Strong leadership and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new donors and funders.
- Strong data analysis skills and fluency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with using social media platforms, online marketing software, donation platforms, survey tools, fundraising software, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Suite, and CRMs

Work Schedule: Regular Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends.
Compensation:
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 / Year
